{"id":745,"date":"2012-02-18T14:59:04","date_gmt":"2012-02-18T14:59:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.argoknot.com\/?p=745"},"modified":"2012-02-21T16:55:20","modified_gmt":"2012-02-21T16:55:20","slug":"helena-hernmarck","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/argoknot.s005.wptstaging.space\/?p=745","title":{"rendered":"Helena Hernmarck"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A friend of mine invited me to visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hernmarck.com\/index.shtml\">Helena Hernmarck&#8217;s tapestry studio<\/a> yesterday. \u00a0She had been introduced to Helena through her current tapestry mentor in the mentoring program of <a href=\"http:\/\/americantapestryalliance.org\/\">ATA <\/a>(American Tapestry Alliance), and she invited me to join her! \u00a0Meeting Helena Hernmarck has been on my &#8216;list&#8217; for at least a decade. \u00a0I have a few acquaintances in common with Helena, and I even used to live in the same town. \u00a0But none of these connections had panned out or paid off as the years went by. \u00a0Yesterday was <em>pay dirt!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>My first exposure to Helena&#8217;s work was seeing a photograph of her from what I think was the 19060s, standing in front of her large tapestry of Little Richard. \u00a0I was so impressed, but that quickly took a back seat to \u00a0the tapestries that came off her looms in later years. \u00a0When I bought her<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Helena-Hernmarck-Tapestry-Byggforlaget-Stockholm\/dp\/9179881726\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1329577528&amp;sr=8-1\"> book<\/a> a few years back I saw photographs of her recently completed studio in Ridgefield, CT. \u00a0I even knew the man who helped design it, and he promised to make an introduction for me&#8230;. Well, everything comes in its own time, doesn&#8217;t it?<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_740\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/argoknot.s005.wptstaging.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Helena-Hernmarck-studio-upside-down.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-740\" class=\"size-full wp-image-740\" title=\"Helena Hernmarck studio upside down\" src=\"https:\/\/argoknot.s005.wptstaging.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Helena-Hernmarck-studio-upside-down.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"598\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-740\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Helena Hermarck&#39;s wall of tapestry wool<\/p><\/div>\n<p>What a<em> thrill<\/em> to see this wall of color in person&#8230;.
